// Why faith and reason
Faith And Reason Are Two Wings, Not Two Sides
In 1998, Saint John Paul II opened his encyclical Fides et Ratio with an image: faith and reason are two wings that lift the human spirit towards the truth. One wing alone cannot fly.
Many were taught that reason must shrink God down to fit inside its own limits. That road led many Christians away from the faith. Faith + Reason walks the other road: reason that dares to rise all the way to God, and faith that is not afraid of questions.
Not a debate channel. A place to pray, think clearly, and come home to Christ.

Faith + Reason FAQs
What Is Faith + Reason?
Faith + Reason is a Catholic music and teaching project that sets the Psalms to modern songs and publishes clear reflections on Scripture, philosophy, and the faith. It helps people pray, think clearly, and return to God. Its foundation is Saint John Paul II’s encyclical Fides et Ratio.
Who Is Behind Faith + Reason?
Faith + Reason is created by Crom Salvatera, a Catholic songwriter and writer based in Sydney, Australia. He writes and produces the Psalm songs and writes the reflections. The Psalms remain the authority; the music is the vessel.
Is Faith + Reason Catholic?
Yes. Faith + Reason is in communion with the Catholic Church, and its teaching stays faithful to Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the Magisterium. Christians of every background and honest seekers are welcome.
Where Can I Listen To The Psalm Songs?
The Psalm songs are on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and the Faith and Reason YouTube channel, @FaithandReasonAU. Psalms 1 to 13 are out now, with ten more on the way.
What Does Faith And Reason Mean?
It means faith and reason work together, not against each other. In Fides et Ratio (1998), Saint John Paul II described them as two wings that carry the human spirit to the truth. Faith without reason drifts into superstition, and reason without faith shuts itself off from God.
Which Psalm Should I Pray When I Cannot Sleep?
Psalm 4 is the classic night prayer. It ends with a promise to lie down and sleep in peace, because God alone keeps us safe. The Faith + Reason song Psalm 4, Sleep in Peace, sets it to music for exactly that moment.
